Nepal is the Hindu kingdom in the world. The temple of Pashupatinath (Lord Shiva), one of the four most sacred temples in the Hindu world and the sacred shrine at Muktinath in the Annapurna range attract Hindu pilgrims and tourists alike.

The town of Lumbini in the Terai or southern plains of Nepal, is the birthplace of Lord Buddha and is also a popular tourist destination. Buddhist pilgrims feel that a special power emanates from this place and many tourists go there to practice meditations.

Nagarkot, a quiet, cozy little resort town located 32 km far from Kathmandu at an altitude of 2100 meters, is an excellent place from which to see the sunrise over the Himalayas. From here, visitors can enjoy stunning views of numerous peaks and sub-ranges of the Himalayas, such as the Ganesh, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling and Solukhumbu areas. On a clear day, visitors can even see Mt. Everest and the massive south face of Mt. Lhotse from Nagarkot. Wide ranges of hotels of different price ranges are also available and there are excellent facilities for tourists.

Pokhara is Nepal’s second most popular tourist destination. Most travelers visit Pokhara for trekking, rafting or other adventure sports but leave deeply impressed by the areas’s scenic beauty and its rich mosaic of ethnic groups and culture. Pokhara’s emerald lakes, which reflect the backdrop of snowy Himalayan peaks on a clear day, make it a place of unparalleled natural beauty.

Rafting offers one of the best ways to enjoy nature while getting to learn about Nepal’s rich ethnic and cultural heritage. Nepal’s 11 raftable rivers gush through twisted canyons and wind through scenic valleys, bypassing small settlements perched on the hillsides near the riverbank. These rivers offer rafting of all levels of technical difficulty, from class 5+ rapids suitable only for experienced raters to relaxing float trips suitable for families with children. All will provide an exciting trip guaranteed not to disappoint as they make their way towards the Indian plains, where
they will eventually merge with the holy Ganges River.

A one hour mountain flight offers spectacular views of the Himalayas from close up, including 6 peaks of over 8000 m, such as Everest, Kanchenjunga, Shishpangma, Cho-Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu and Gaurishankar as well as the Tibetan plateau.

Jungle/wildlife safaris are also available in Nepal. Royal Chitwan, Royal Bardia and Koshi Tappu National Parks offer an exciting array of activities which allow visitors to view wild animals in their natural habitat such as elephant rides deep into the jungle, 4 wheel drive jeep safaris, canoe rides on jungle rivers, nature walks, bird watching and village tours in order to experience the local culture.
